Construction update

As part of my August Wonders of South Africa tour we visited Coffee Bay, and I was blown away by the progress Angel has made.

The first rondavel construction has commenced and I was honoured to be asked to place a brick to start the building. Angel also made a wonderful speech, in which she announced that I had been honoured with a Xhosa name of Mavulindlela (‘the Way Finder’). What an exciting day!

Angel has kept us updated and after a lot of hard work, sweat and fantastic fundraising, I am very happy to say that we now have two rondavels completed. This is all thanks to Angel’s great work in finding a very competent builder ready willing and able to do the in great time, and to everyone who has made such generous contributions.

We have had such a wonderful response for our plea for more funds and my past passengers have shown immense generosity – from small change left over from overseas travel, to money tins with filled with coins, to absolute mind blowing generous gifts. Every cent helps and this is the reason that we are now in the wonderful position of having two rondavels built. Though we still need water tanks, power and so much more, we are making such wonderful progress.

With Christmas soon upon us, I am hoping that many people will take advantage of buying a ‘brick’ to give to their friends. Sharon and her committee have been working very hard to organise some future fundraising events so if you would like to be a part of this committee, or if you have a great idea for fundraising, please let us know.

Please know that every contribution helps, whether it is a few dollars, your time, or assistance in any shape or form. We are making great progress in ensuring the children of Coffee Bay have a warm, safe and happy home, children who would otherwise have nothing.
